About the Campaign

Cyber-enabled financial frauds are rising rapidly across Kerala, with students increasingly becoming both targets and influencers in the digital space. In this backdrop, the Reserve Bank of India, Thiruvananthapuram, seeks to harness the creativity and reach of young minds to spread awareness on critical cyber financial threats.

Through RBI Reelathon 2026, a reel-making competition for college students across Kerala and Lakshadweep, participants are invited to create impactful short videos on themes such as illegitimate loan apps, mule accounts, and digital financial frauds. Beyond being a competition, the campaign aims to evolve into a large-scale social media awareness movement that empowers citizens to recognise, resist, and report cyber fraud.

Rules & Regulations

RBI Reelathon 2026  ·  Thiruvananthapuram

  1. 01 The competition is open only to currently enrolled UG and PG students from recognised universities of Kerala and Lakshadweep. Participants below 18 years of age, if any, must obtain consent from a parent or guardian.
  2. 02 All team members must belong to the same college — cross-college teams aren't allowed.
  3. 03 There is no limit on the number of team members. However, valid college ID cards of at least two members must be submitted along with the entry.
  4. 04 Only one submission is permitted per team. Multiple submissions may lead to disqualification.
  5. 05 The reel submitted must be original and created specifically for this competition. Entries that have been previously published or submitted elsewhere will not be accepted.
    • Maximum duration: 3 minutes
    • Accepted formats: MP4 / MOV
    • Minimum quality: 720p
    • Maximum file size: 500 MB
    • Orientation: Portrait / Vertical
    • Language: Malayalam
  6. 06 Entries must be based on the following themes. Entries not aligned with the themes may be disqualified.
    • Illegitimate Loan Apps
    • Mule Accounts
    • Digital Financial Frauds
  7. 07 The concept, script, and performance must be original and your own creation. Fully AI-generated entries will be disqualified.
  8. 08 Any music, footage or other content used in the video must not infringe upon any third-party intellectual property rights.
  9. 09 Ensure that all individuals appearing in the reel have consented to filming and public sharing of the content.
  10. 10 Content should not be misleading, offensive, defamatory, political, or promotional in nature.
  11. 11 Entries will be evaluated based on:
    • Relevance to the theme
    • Creativity and presentation
    • Clarity and brevity
  12. 12 Entries must be submitted through the official submission portal along with:
    • Reel file (MP4 / MOV)
    • College ID cards of both participants
    • Contact details of the college
    Last date for submission: August 15, 2026 | 11:59 PM IST. Submission through any other channel is not permitted.
  13. 13 Prize Details:
    • 1st Prize — ₹75,000
    • 2nd Prize — ₹50,000
    • 3rd Prize — ₹25,000
    Applicable TDS will be deducted as per rules.
  14. 14 The decision of the judges will be final and binding. No correspondence, in this regard, will be entertained.
  15. 15 RBI reserves the right to use submitted entries for financial literacy and awareness initiatives.
